ï GENEALOGIES OF THE CATHOLIC
FAMILIES OF MAINE, NEW BRUNSWICK AND PROVINCE OF QUEBEC
Diane (Laverdiere) Voskuhl and an associate have recently compiled
an updated version of Father Lang's Dictionnaire Généalogique
de Madawaska, a multiple volume set of large books done in the 1930's which
covers all the parishes in the old diocese of Madawaska, NB. Included in
this diocese are marriage records of all the parishes in northern Maine
such as Ste.Luce, Eagle Lake, Grand Falls, St.Francis, Van Buren, etc.
plus many parishes in northern New Brunswick. The marriages in these volumes
are organized alphabetically by the groom's surname then within each surname
by the bride's maiden name with the names of the parents, date and place
married, and traces most of these families back into Quebec and Acadia
within the recources then available to Fr. Lang. Since then, many corrections
and additions have been made and Diane has incorporated as many corrections
and additions that she could find as well as from other researchers including
Leon Guimond of Frenchville, myself, and others.
Diane offers this very useful set of six volumes in hard print for $300
in US funds. A second printing of these books will be done this July (2001).
To reserve a copy of these volumes, Diane requests that you send her a
deposit of $100 (nonrefundable).
You can also purchase this information from her on a CD for only $65
in US funds postpaid.
The CD is written in DOS - so that any Windows machine or Macintosh
with a Windows emulator can read the files.
The CD data base is searchable by groom, bride, place of marriage,
and date of marriage.
