Over the past 30 years we have collected miniature clocks of all kinds. Many of these clocks have unique features that make them
both interesting and fun. We will be offering a variety of miniature clocks on this page. For those collectors who are interested in filling in
their collection of Seth Thomas 9" miniatures you will find several offered. Information about the Thomas 9" cottage clocks may be found
in the exhaustive work of Owen Burt, " Seth Thomas 9" Cottage Clocks 1852-1898". We have a few copies available. The author details every
facet of the production of these clocks as well as the history of the cases, movements, labels and other variations made over the years. It is
very interesting reading, almost like putting together a horological puzzle. We know of several collectors who are attempting to find one example of
each of the models, and all the variations, and will be glad to help if possible. If you are new to the world of the 9" cottage clocks do pick up a copy of
Mr. Burt's articles, you will admire the workmanship and history of these great little clocks through his eyes and learn just about everything there is to
about how they were made, when, changes that were made and for what reasons and many other interesting facts.

For those who own the Owen Burt,"SETH THOMAS 9" COTTAGE CLOCKS" book, the clock is shown on the front cover.Case- C-19.Rosewood case. Factory #27. Super nice rosewood case with original finish. This clock was in one family. I put it away in 1975 and just now unwrapped it. Just clean the case to bring out the wonderful rosewood. Movement-6B-ET , signed Thomaston CT. SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. 9" MINIATURE OCTAGON TOP WITH OG BASE (C-02 MODEL) 1853-1859)The PH-02 label dates this clock between 1853 and 1859 which makes it one of the earliest of this model and one of the earliest Plymouth Hollow labels.Ref. Owen Burt, "SETH THOMAS 9" COTTAGE CLOCKS, page #10. This is one of the earliest made, a Stage One model. The bottom of the case has the early shipping holes. This clock has a wonderful case. Movement-6A-EP Time and Alarm, signed Plymouth, CT. Very early, the movement is mounted with two cast iron strips. This movement was made only 1870-1873. SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. 9" MINIATURE SLANT BASEThis clock was made between 1874 and 1878 according the the marking on the movement and is the earliest of this type movement.Case- C-14.Rosewood case with original finish. The case has excellent veneer and graining, as nice as they come. Movement-5B-D Time only signed Thomaston, CT. Label- T-05 Excellent. Dial- Original, perfect condition bullseye style. Probably the best dial we have seen. Hands- S T hands Tablet- Geometric design, perfect condition. Great clock with the factory number #278. SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. 9" MINIATURE FLAT TOP OG BASE- RARE LABELThis clock was only made for one year,1866-1867 it can be dated precisely by the label which is one of the most rare of all. This label was designed and printed after the Civil War to include the Union Shield and flag and remove the peace branches, arrows and e pluribus unum displayed on earlier label.Case- C-01.Rosewood case with original finish. The case has excellent veneer and graining and a contrasting lighter front. There are two sets of shipping holes in the bottom of the case, the only one we have seen with two pair. Movement-1C-C Time and Alarm, signed Plymouth, CT. Label- PH-14 Very good. Dial-Repaint and in excellent condition. Hands- S T hands Tablet- Black and Bronze compass design, original and nice. SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. 9" EIGHT DAY MINIATURE FLAT TOP OG BASEEarly and Rare, only made one year, 1856.Case- C-01. Excellent, rosewood case with original finish. This case was made only 1852-1867, however, due to the details of the movement, this clock can be dated to the year 1856. The case has shipping holes in the bottom, only done on the very earliest models. The rosewood veneer is richly figured and the sides of the case are rosewood grained. Excellent gold leaf trim around both glasses. Movement-1C-C Time and Alarm, signed Plymouth, CT. Very early. Label- PH-02 Excellent condition. Dial-Repaint and in excellent condition. SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. 9" EIGHT DAY MINIATURE ROUND TOP ROUND BASE.Case- C-18. Excellent, beautiful case, one sliver off bottom, as good as it gets. Movement-9B-U Time and Alarm, signed Thomaston, CT. This movement was made only from 1877-1878. This movement is rare, only 4% of all minis have this movement. Unusual placement of alarm close to mvmnt. It is very rare to find an 8 day movement in a 9" miniature. Label- T-05 Excellent condition. Dial-Original paint and in excellent condition. Hands- Spade Tablet- Solid door. This movement was made only from 1866-1872. Interesting design in the shape of a horseshoe. Early. Label- T-03 in very good condition. Dial-bullseye. Hands- S/T Tablet- mirrow, original and very good. This is a great looking clock. This style of octagon top was very expensive to make with several cuts and pieces in the bezel and front door. $375. U.S.A., stamped 3 5/8. Very few of the 9" miniatures were made with Time, Strike and Alarm movements. Label- T-05 in excellent condition. Dial- bullseye attached with two screws in center. SETH THOMAS CLOCK CO. 9" MINIATURE FLAT TOPOne of the earliest of the 9" miniatures. Flat top with OG base and original wing shape key. Rosewood front, grained sides.Factory case #404. Label PH-02 (1853-1859) . Very early label made in two configurations. The centered print labels were used in time only models and the off set print labels were made for time and strike models where the bell would cover up the company name if it was not printed so that the name was printed on the right side of the label. This clock is a bit like a rare coin with a double strike, the label is off set but the movement is time only. According to Burt, all off set labels were used in time and strike models (if anyone has another like this please let us know). Movement is ID-B (1852-1857). Repair notes back to 1870. All original. S.T. hands (tip of T broken), almost perfect dial, excellent label, signed S. Thomas, Plymouth movement. The flat top model with OG base is early and rare. $450. Inventory #001 ~ SOLD~ |

Movement markings- 3 1/2 Made 1878-1888 Dial- Original paint. Hands- spade Tablet- None Label-T-05 Excellent case. The round top models are rare and difficult to find even in the 30 hour configuration. The 8 DAY models are hardly ever found. The dial is in excellent, original condition with the ST logo (as with other Thomas clocks, there are two factory holes that have never been used). Partial jewelers label on inside of door. One of the best of the 9 inch models in super nice condition and 8 DAY. Everything on the clock is 100% original. Hands- S/T Tablet- Mirror Nice rosewood case, great dial. Backboard of case has a knot in it that was patched with a piece of zinc at the factory. One of the earliest horseshoe shape movements.
