Horsin' Around

"Shy" is a new addition to the farm, she is a quarter horse mare who is one of the babies out of Donny's old mare "Greens Jamica Miss" (Doc Bar bloodlines) and "Mr. Zippo Win".  She will make a fine horse for the kids to show. She was brought down from Strader Quarter Horses in Grove City, Ohio.  If things go well, she may be bred to "Potentially Famous".

Here is a picture of an evening preparing for "Riding Therapy".  One evening per week throughout the summer, and ending with a show at the county fair in September.  Handicap people come down to the fairgrounds weekly for therapy exercises on horse back while riding.  Pictured from front to back; "Charlie" the official mascot (handicapped goat) of riding therapy this year, "Shy", and "Red".  Sierra and Deana "Horsin' Around" as well!

The mare on the left is "Red".  She is bred to "Potentially Famous", and should foal in April 2008. She has a 2 year old gelding out of "Shaker Bar" on our farm now.

"Red" driving a buggy, which was bought from Amish friends of ours, and was used in our wedding back in 1997, the only difference was the buggy was initially used with a horse that Tara grew up with named "Rusty", he was 33+ years old when he could not fight cancer anymore.  Tara was asked to teach Red to drive the buggy for a friends wedding, and she did very well learning a new "trick".
Practice, Practice, Practice!  Sierra riding Red in 2006, preparing for shows.
The 2007 Riding Therapy program finished up for the year at the 2007 Morgan Co. Fair with a demonstration of the exercises and challenges the riders overcome in a fun way during the summer.  Fair is great for the riders, as they get a lot of attention from the spectators. It is their time to shine!!
