As I've written and said many times before, whenever a liberal fringe group wishes to achieve credibility, they almost always liken their cause to the black civil rights movement. I'm sorry, but comparing the plight of the obese or transgendered to the centuries of slavery and its aftermath is a stretch at best, but it also illustrates the left's consistent habit of using blacks for their political and activist convenience.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals have been the most blatant of culprits. In a 2005 exhibit they called, "Are Animals The New Slaves?", Tolerance.org reported,
It still goes on today.
Today we have wackos, dangerous wackos, like Dr. Jerry Vlasak (married to former child star Pamela Ferdin) who also believes that medical research on animals to find cures for diseases is the same as black slavery.
During a 2006 60 Minutes interview with Ed Bradley, Vlasak said,
I think we aren't dumb enough to not know what the differences are.
"Fair game" meaning doctors and scientists can be targeted for violence.
“Animal researchers, slaughterhouse workers, the head of the corporation that slaughters hundreds of millions of chickens every single year for the taste of their flesh,” says Vlasak.
Well, people like chicken.
“People liked owning slaves too, okay. That doesn't make it right,” Vlasak said.
It always comes back to that. Like that will garner them sympathy.
Now we have his latest warning...
Nobody likes to be used, yet I get grief every time I point out how the radical and political left uses black people by making continued false comparisons. I'm told I need to wake up. Since that tactic is wearing thin, they've now kicked it up a notch and suggest that anyone, while seeking a cure that may save millions of human lives, who experiments on an animal could (and should?) die.
America needs to wake up. Until we scream to these liberal eco-terrorists that neither people or animals are props (ripe for their personal exploitation whims), the PeTA's and Vlasaks of the world will assume we are on the same moral footing as a cow or lab rat.
When creating such performance art, liberals always seek to make US think. Maybe they're the ones who need to think twice.
